Prologue: White Rabbit
Autumns in London were briskly cool. The playful winds nipped and teased cheeks, tinting them rose, and the trees changed their emerald garment for shining gold and dazzling scarlet. They were a breathtaking sight across the university grounds.
But for all their splendor, Ellice could not bring himself to enjoy the sight. The romantic effect was lost on him as he sat under one of the broad elderly oaks, staring miserably into his lap. ‘Well what did you really expect?’ he thought sadly, fingers curling around the letter he had read over and over. He sighed and his eyes trailed the lines of his father’s familiar blocky handwriting.
With your mother’s passing I find the holidays a tedious and trying time. I won’t be celebrating this year so do not trouble yourself with returning home….’
His fingers shook and he crumpled the offending parchment in his hands before laying it to the side.
Galaxy of the HeartHow many worlds have you known me?Galaxy of the Heart by Silver-Afrit
How many different constellations have we counted together?
When I think of all the times I must have loved you,
Under different skies and on different wavelengths,
In all the beautiful forms you must have taken...
Quiet whispering memories that are all mine,
And completely not mine...
Just as you are and were Beloved.
Just as you will and must be?
I ache for your promise of memories.
And all the lives we've spent together,
Send out ripples of what will and may be.
How many of my faces have you touched?
How many universes until you love me again?
